First peep

Hey guys! I've had such an exciting Saturday, it's unreal. Yesterday evening while I was delighted by a McDo meal, I received the phone call: I could pick up the keys to my (rented!) apartment. I was over the moon!

Gnarly!

So that's me posing with the "TOO LATE ASSHOLE IT'S MINE NOW" sign (well literally it says "rented", but I guess you can catch my drift). Don't let the sock bun and glasses fool you, it's still me!

My best mate Steve and I went to the thrift shop that had announced a whole new batch of awesome stuff coming in so you can imagine the excitement of the local hipsters and old people: The store was completely packed. Nonetheless I got some super sweet stuff: A copper decorative plate (for candles and baubles), a really old bag to store binoculars (totes putting my camera in there, no fucks are given) and the big ticket item: This boudoir chair.

It's got this beautiful chinoiserie style imagery of a peacock, it was love at first sight. It's uncomfortable as hell so I'm probably putting it in the bedroom. It's so gorgeous and tacky, and for €12,50, dragging it home (thanks Stevie!) was totally worth it.
We went to Chi-Chi's afterwards to enjoy a good burger, headed on to the DIY store for paint swatches and decided to call it a day.

So right now I'm just chillin' giving my feet a rest after a tiring but absolutely fantabulous day. It's so good to be taking these giant steps into adulthood with my close friends. They may say that happiness is a journey, not a destination, but hell I can smell the happy around the corner, I'm almost there. And let me tell you it smells AWESOME.

I hope you enjoy your weekend, my loves!

PS: Don't forget to start following me on bloglovin' now that Google Reader's decided to call it a day!

Moving Day

Helluuu all! I'm excited to announce that, if all goes well, I will be moving out of my parents' nest soon! Wednesday I'll be signing the contract and Friday I can get a hold of the keys! Woohoo!

April 1st I'll officially move in, but the place is filthy and needs some work done, also I have a hell of a lot of stuff to move so I can use the extra time! I really couldn't be more happy with the apartment, the living room has two floor-to-ceiling windows which has always been my DREAM and to top it off, there's a beautiful view over the river which I'm ecstatic about! The bedroom is tiny (read: I'm not sure if I'll be able to fit in an Ikea PAX wardrobe) but has a full window wall as well so really, I can't complain.

I got my first piece of furniture yesterday, a dark wooden side table from the thrift store for a mere €4,50! My friend dragged it all the way through Antwerp's China town (including the supermarket, aww he's such a sweetheart) to his place, where it is currently waiting for me and my car to come pick it up.
Have I mentioned I had my first solo drive the other day? I'm taking such big steps to adulthood lately, I'm loving it!

Anyway, to coincide with this big news, I made a moodboard on pinterest which I named 'organic': I had 3 styles in mind: A more shabby chic kind of approach, or a fun, bright and more graphic style (think Ikea, Urban Outfitters, chevron, polka dots...), or, and this is what I ultimately decided on: A stripped down, natural vibe with some vintage and bohemian touches, which I think would complement the features of the apartment best. I already found the shop of my dreams here in Antwerp (I'm pretty sure I'll blog about it in full once I get my shoppin' done) to which I'll take some big cash once I settle in. In the meantime, enjoy some outtakes from my board:

Keywords being wood, whites, leathers, trinkets from afar and lots of greens!

By the way: The living room faces North-West so that means I'll probably have some pretty awesome natural light, excellent for shooting pictures! I'm so excited about this new phase in life, and what having my own space will mean for taking this blog to the level I've always wanted it to be.

I have a hectic set of weeks waiting for me, so wish me luck peeps! n___n

Hell bound but heaven sent

Yo dudes! How's your weekend been? I've been chilling way too hard, sleeping in, taking naps and doing nothing at all.
I did see an osteopath concerning my everlasting fatigue, I was expecting a dairy or gluten intolerance but, for the love of all that is holy, it's sugar.

SUGAR. My one true love in life and I can't have it anymore. I've tried just about anything, vitamin supplements, visits to my GP, exercise, proper sleep, better eating, meditating but nothing seems to crank up my energy level so I have turned to holistic medicine. I've been relatively sugar-free since Thursday, which means no cookies, no icecream, no candy, no pastries, no fizzy drinks (no light ones either because that's crap)... Waaah!!

In other news, I have a dentist appointment coming Thursday and I'm petrified because I'll probably need surgery for my wisdom teeth. They've been bothering me for like, what, 4 years now? And just recently I've noticed my jaw's been pretty much dislocating itself slowly, haha, so other than surgery I fear I may need some braces... But let's not panic just yet, right? ... Right?

On to some new decor stuff!

Pillow cases - La Redoute
Jar - Maisons du Monde
Frame - Urban Outfitters
Laptop stand - Ikea
Blanket - Zara Home

Mugs - Dear Prudence for Urban Outfitters

The illustration in the frame is a postcard I picked up at a tattoo convention I visited with my best mate a while back. I'd mention the artist but it's such a hassle to open that goddamn frame (I reviewed the thing on the UO site and gave it one mere star because it's quite a shitty thing really)...

What else is new... Well I finally got some proper running shoes haha, the drive up to the sports-and-camping-stuff store was such a hassle (I have my learner's permit and am allowed to drive solo even though that would be like mental suicide because I get super stressed), the parking lot was like the wild west and my Mom was in a hurry, BOO NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN. I did park my car in a minimum of very slick moves! I wish someone would've caught that on video because it was pretty impressive if I may say so myself... I may be a really shitty, impatient driver but I can parallel park like a freak!

And to think I was planning on going to Ikea solo, on a Saturday... LOLZ! I'll just take the bus for the time being.

I wish you all a smooth week! I don't know how I'm going to get past Monday without sugar... WOE IS ME!
