May 30: Any moment this could catch fire

MOOD: NEUTRAL

The sinusitis is back, I can't blame it because I haven't exactly been taking care of myself (read: sleeping in tents when it's only 5°C outside) but still it's quite a bummer because I gotta hit the books for exams which start June 7. Oh shit. I still have two books to finish for literature, and a lot of revising to do. Eep!

Other than that, I might have found the perfect way out of this hell hole of a country. Ever since I was a kid I felt this really strong urge to pack my things and leave somewhere warm. Even my mom says it would be better for me to move (and it's not like she doesn't like me or anything haha).

Anyway, hanging with exotic friends made me realise something. Why don't I just leave now? I'm still young, I'll learn a new language quickly, I'll adjust. Thing is, you don't just get a job thrown into your lap when all you can say is "hi my name is Vicky".
So I thought, "Holy shit I could work as an au pair!"

And that's what I'm going to try. Portugal, Spain, I don't care much. As long as it's warm and the people are friendly.

Picture time now. I bought some random, very generic slippers because I had absolutely no shoes to wear under all my dresses. They were only €13, and they're the only open shoes I tried out yesterday that didn't seem to be built for people with fingers as toes. Okay so I have short toes, but I honestly felt like a mutant when I saw all that left over space in the toe area.

I also got this pretty little bracelet from H&M for €2,90. It also comes in gold, for those who are interested. But beware, it's huuuge: I can put it on without undoing the clasp (which means I'd probably lose it within two days, so I'm going to make it shorter).

And that's about it for today. I guess I'll either read some more, or start revising. Oh jolly good times!

MOOD: BORED

I'm bored out of my skull. Really, I seem to just sit around till the day is over haha. I can't seem to come up with any fun activities that don't cost any money. Yes, I'm pretty much broke haha. So I blog. This is going to be a completely irrelevant post to those looking for pictures of shoes or dresses, so sorry in advance!

I had quite an awesome weekend. Friday night I went to sit by the river with a few friends and some booze. Unfortunately it didn't occur to me that I still had some packing to do for Blackstarfest the next day so I hung out a wee bit too long.

Shooting in raw is such an epiphany - the boats and buildings are almost completely black in the original shot. I don't know how I went 3 months without raw. After another 5 months of shooting in jpeg + raw, I'm finally brave enough to leave jpeg for what it is. Haha.

Anyway, after a good 6-hour sleep, I had to get up again to get ready for Blackstarfest. Me and my new random Portuguese buddy Ricardo started our adventure at respectively 8:30 and 7:00. The poor guy came all the way from Namur haha.
We saw a shitload of bands, emphasis on shit, with names like LoveHateHero and I Am Ghost. The singer of I Am Ghost actually noticed us laughing at him, haha. Or, I like to believe he was pointing at us when he said "HEEEY I don't ask for much but you have to dance!"

Yeah. Campus and No Turning Back however, were pretty good! I usually like post-hardcore more than hardcore, but I'm very openminded. Haha. I planned on making lots of pretty pictures, but the music was so goddamn loud I couldn't approach the stage. Though when Ricardo wanted to get in the pit during No Turning Back and I couldn't see squat because of the really big guys standing in front of me, I thought I'd give it a shot anyway.

Out of the 100+ shots, this is the only one that turned out okay haha. Oh well I had fun. Camera privileges are quite nice. No moshers, no pushing, no sweaty guys standing too close. I should do this more often.
After the show we went outside to catch some fresh air, and the bass player from LoveHateHero, who was in the pit with Ricardo, came to beg us for cigarettes. I think he was as high as a kite because when we said we didn't smoke, he kind of just wandered off saying "what's wrong with kids these days" hahaha.
Then we went to stalk the vocalist from No Turning Back (as seen in pic above) because my mate wanted a picture haha. We succeeded. He's quite a nice guy.

The next morning we realized our tent wasn't water proof so it kind of rained inside haha.

Life has been so golden lately. While my old class mates have undergone evaluations, and I think pretty much all of them have passed, I sleep in, hang out with my friends and go to festivals. I'm happy.

Though my ex could stop stalking me, seriously.

MOOD: EXCITED

Blackstarfest tomorrow, super yay! I just have to remind myself to print the goddamn e-tickets. I don't want to arrive after a 3-hour bus/train/bus/walk travel only to find out I forgot the tickets. Hah.

Anyway I thought I'd share two of my latest drawings, a friend wanted to see them so I quickly snapped some photos, guess I might as well show them here, too.

Yay!

MOOD: GUUD

Oh the jolly prospects! Saturday I'm going to another little festival, Black Star Fest, with Blessed by a Broken Heart, No Turning Back, I Am Ghost and Campus (hai again), Grey Like Masquerade etc etc etc. Not that I'm actually familiar with those bands, haha, but after seeing so many people with their cameras I got the courage to bring my baby as well.

In other news, I went for a quick shopping spree after dropping my paper off at school (Vicky vs Paper: 3 - 2!) but I didn't get much, just these two pretties:

Ring and bracelet, Six, €3,95 and €4,95

And some new black skinnies because my old ones were getting a bit too rippey. And not in the fashionable way, no I'm talking what-are-you-planning-on-doing-with-those holes in the crotch area.

I absolutely don't recommend the bracelet as the beads seem to have been put on too tightly, so it's too stiff to fit around the wrist nicely. Bummer.

The background in the picture was deliberately chosen, but more about that later haha.

MUSIC: EMAROSA FTW!
MOOD: PRETTY M'F'IN AWESOME

Rockfest was amazing. Deez Nuts, Vanna, Dead and Divine and especially Emarosa, 't was awesome. Jonny hung out at the merch tent a lot but none of us dared to go up to him for a picture, because he appears to be a total jackass haha. My best friend Steve said I should go and use my female charm (hahaha) but I'm incredibly shy - back in November, when we met Dallas Green, I just stood there giggling like a school girl as well.

That's kind of lame isn't it?

Anyway, Alisée made this awesome picture, which pretty much captures the overall mood of the evening.

I look kind of possessed or something hahaha, chillin' with ma homie Jonny. It almost makes up for the fact that I was too scared to talk to him.
He held my hand a few times as well. *squee*

Okay. Time to write my paper now. Wish me luck, as it is due tomorrow, holy smokes!

Edit: More!

I'm the one going "I LOLLED"^ here  in the middle.

And in this one, that's Steve's hand almost grabbing Jonny's ass and I (good thing I have recognizable hair) am having his crotch pressed to my face. Oh jolly good times.

MUSIC: JONNY CRAIG
MOOD: FRUSTRATED

I am having a really hard time focussing on the paper I have to write for Contemporary Art, so instead, I'm surfing the web aimlessly. Also, I'm overly excited about tomorrow, as I'll be seeing Emarosa, fuck yeah! I know it's like the 5th time I've mentioned that but I just can't get over it haha. I am desperately going to try to get backstage and have a picture taken with Jonny Craig but I have this nagging suspicion that's not going to work.
It's been said that he's quite a douche, haha.
Maybe I should bring something yummy. Or beer.
Or weed.

Anyway, I also snapped a picture of my awesome new lace ups from Urban Outfitters, for the sake of having some sort of visual treat in this blog post.

Surprisingly, they were only €55. Considering the fact they're made out of real leather and come from UO (aka Utterly Overpriced), they're quite a bargain.

And I just spilled Diet Coke all over my macbook. Perhaps I should give Contemporary Art another go?
Wish me luck.

MUSIC: THE GHOST OF A THOUSAND
MOOD: ILL

Aargh, I've finally finished my load of antibiotics (pills the size of a thumb you guys, A THUMB!!) and now I have a really bad cough and I think I'm coming down with a fever?!
Possibly because it was so cold yesterday, apparently the coldest May 12 ever measured. Holy shit.

Trying to forget about the cold and the snottiness, I went shopping and came home with the three items I was looking for:

Lookbook did quite a nifty widget. It's got a live counter and everything, zomg!

H&M's jersey maxi dress which is only €9,95. I didn't expect to find it in my size, figured it'd be sold out because it's so pretty and cheap but noez, they still had all sizes in stock. Quite odd, I guess most Belgians are too 'careful', in lack of a better word, when it comes to fashion.
As soon as the weather improves I'm wearing this out, I'll probably get a few nasty looks but hey, that doesn't ruin it for me.
Also, a denim jacket! I haven't worn one since I was 8 and even then I hated them because they were so unflattering, haha. Jesus that sounds bad.
And finally, a very tropical blue nail polish. I only now notice that it almost matches my wall paper. Hah!
I also bought these awesome lace up booties from Urban Outfitters, picture will follow, one day.

In other news, I'll be seeing Emarosa on Saturday. Holy smokes, that's pretty awesome.

MOOD: MELANCHOLIC

I've been pretty ill lately (sinusitis) so I've spent the past two days in bed, sleeping it off. Hopefully the meds will kick in soon, because I have a party to attend tomorrow, haha. Yay!

Other than that, we saw the first 40 minutes or so of The Road during literature class today. The cellar scene must have been one of the most disturbing things I've seen in my entire life. (I've seen blue waffle, 2 girls 1 cup and jar man.)

ANYWAY, happy things now.

I drew a dandelion. Yay. :D

Edit: Version two. I think I still prefer the first one.
But I like the grainy effect on the photograph I used for the background.

MUSIC: GLASSJAW
MOOD: CHILL

It's pretty much official, I have dropped out of graphic design. Whether I'll go back in September for another round of Year 1, I don't know yet. If (and only if) I build a good portfolio, I don't need a silly paper saying I'm good at what I do.
Though I always would have liked a proper degree, in whatever. Hmm. Decisions to make!

Anyway.

Last weekend I went to Groezrock and lots of crazy things happened (involving a tent and really cold temperatures) but what happens at Groez, stays at Groez.
Anyway I saw Glassjaw (fucking epic I tell you!), another round of The Ghost of a Thousand and asked Dance Gavin Dance for a photo.

I'm very aware of the fact I look like shit in the photo (my friend looked way better but idk if she wants to be on here so heartsy it is haha) but hey, we drank, we went to bed at 6 AM and got up again 3 hours later, then drank again. There's an excuse.

So yesterday I attended drawing class (completely voluntarily!), basically because we went to the zoo again. I hung out at the aquarium this time, mainly in front of a tank with lots of starfish. Hearing kids scream "OMG PATRICK!!" at the starfish all of the time, I got a marvelous idea.

I'm not quite satisfied with Bob's appearance yet, so I might just draw another sponge to replace the current one.
While standing in front of that fish tank with my sketchbook, a lot of kids were too curious not to check what I was doing. Lots of gasps and 'omg' and what not, kids are so easily impressed. It was rather cute!

So, what are the prospects right now? Well I still have a paper to write for Contemporary Arts and exams are coming up in June! I'm bailing out yes, but I'm still doing Philosophy, Literature and Art History exams, just to prove my teachers I can at least do something right, haha.
